We equip and empower people for personal ministry as Members, Neighbors, and Guides.
Dear Southside (and guests),
We will not be gathering for a Christmas Eve service this year.
As the world seems to speed up, we are slowing down. Southside has a small army of people who work hard to provide a warm, quality Sunday morning service. We want them to enjoy time with their families on Christmas Eve.
If a Christmas Eve service is part of your family tradition, there are many wonderful churches in Wooster who would be happy to have you as their guest.
Additionally, as has been our custom for several years, there is no Sunday morning service the first Sunday after Christmas (12/29).
Slow down. Breathe deep his grace. Enjoy time with family.
May you relish in his goodness and mercy this Christmas season.
Cheerfully yours,
Pastor Greg

Visiting a church for the first time can be a little weird, we totally get it. We thought it might be helpful to share some photos of our building and our people.
Yes, it's cliche, but it's true that the church isn't a building, it's people. Here are some pictures of stuff we like to do together.
Every church is about the work of making disciples of Jesus. Here’s what it looks like for us.
We do things slowly in order to do them well - we only do a few things, but we do them consistently for a long time.
We like keeping a simple program schedule because it leaves room for complexity in relationships. We place a high value on personal ministry. What this means is we have a couple basic gatherings:
Large Gathering - Sunday Service (to re-center our hearts and minds in Christ and his Kingdom)
Medium Gatherings - Community Groups (to build spiritual friendships and exercise “one another” passages)
Small Gatherings - Discipleship Pods (to energize and encourage our faith)
We do have a ministry for children, including a nursery. Babies and toddlers can be dropped off at their rooms before the service. The rest of the children join us for the music portion of our service, and then are dismissed back to their classes. Our view on children’s ministry is that it is not childcare, but a ministry for helping them grow deeper in their relationships with Jesus Christ.
For those who are not morning people, or those who just love coffee, we have a coffee (and tea) bar (and occasionally pastries) waiting for you before, during, and after the service.
Lastly, “come as you are” has become somewhat of a cliché; however, we really do mean it. We have people showing up in full suits sitting next to people in gym shorts. Wear what you want, we’d just like to see you.
Culture doesn’t communicate well through words. The best way to understand our culture is to experience it. We’re here every Sunday.
