Baby Bottle Drive
Bottles are now available in the lobby to pick up and take home! Last year we raised $950 for the Pregnancy Care Center. We hope you help us fill as many as we can with loose change and bring them back in by August 30th.
Southside Garden
We’ve started a community garden this year, here on our property, and we just need to raise about $500 more towards some of the start up costs we've had, including a rain collection system and deer fence. If you are able to give any portion to help towards this goal, you can give directly towards our “Community Garden” fund online here.
To learn more about the vision of this garden and how we're using it as a tool for discipleship for our kids and families at Southside, check out any or all of Greg's 3-part video set he filmed: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Annual Congregational Meeting
October 14th, 7:00-8:30pm
Southside is growing up – we’re in our "childhood” stage as a church (we’ll be 8 years old in November!). There are certain predictable opportunities and challenges that come with this stage, and we’d like to get ahead of them. At our first annual Congregational Meeting, we’ll cover a lot! Why we planted a church in Wooster. Where we’ve come from as a church. Where we’re headed. What we feel needs some attention. Clarity is kindness – and we pray this meeting will provide plenty of clarity. We’ll even throw in a vote for some changes we’d like to make in our bylaws. (We’ll make sure you get a copy of those before the meeting.) It will be an important meeting, a time to renew our vision of what it means to be a vibrant community of disciples, lovingly connected to the vine, and to one another through Christ. I hope you’ll consider making it a priority in your calendar.
Church Center - Tip #1
One quick and easy thing to know about Church Center is that you can access it both on the computer and through an app on your smartphone, whichever you prefer!
From the computer, visit www.southsidewooster.churchcenter.com.
To download the app, click this link on your phone.
Shepherd Team
Our Shepherd Team is responsible for the spiritual care and oversight of Southside, and we want you to know who these members are so you can reach out to them when you need to. Each Sunday, a different couple from the team will close service so you can get used to seeing who they are. They will be available to pray with you, walk with you through your questions about God, or simply be someone to talk to about life and where God is moving in it.
Fair Sunday
As we’ve done for the past few years, there will be no regular Sunday morning services on September 13th at Southside. Many in the community are involved with the Fair and this is one unique way we’ve found to care for our volunteers in providing space for rest during busy seasons. Feel free to spend a slow morning at home with Jesus, visit another local church, or head down to the church service at the Wayne County Fair!
Summer Read
This summer, we are as a church (for those who want to), reading the book, Ordinary, by Michael Horton. Each week, Greg gives some reflections on the chapter through our Weekly Equipping Brief podcast. This is another way we are praying that God would grow and mature us as a community of disciples of Jesus!
You can purchase your own copy here on Amazon.
You can find our reading schedule for the summer here.
Wish List
We have an Amazon wish list that we update periodically with current needs as an option to serve Southside for those who are looking for small sporadic opportunities. Purchasing items from this list helps to make our Sunday morning gatherings thrive - anything from diapers for the nursery, to snacks for our Kids Ministry, to basic cleaning supplies. You can view the list here.
